Facebook Monopoly

Are you surprised?

Facebook seems to be a monopoly we are simply OK with. The platform serves as a welcomed monopoly on our time. We have no problem waiting in long lines or not having anything to talk about with the person in front of you. We can simply pull out our phones and sc(tr)roll on our favorite social media platform and pass the time.

What kind of implications may come out of this? Maybe the ultimate social media platform will make us “less” social in some ways. Perhaps it will screw with our already pervasive commitment issues. Game theoretically, it may play an important role in how we make decisions in the future.

For the time being, though, it seems to be alright.

Let us know what you think will come of this, if anything…
